Agent-first Coding Approach

· 1 min read

After testing out my first agentic coding IDE using Google Antigravity, I truly feel that this is a tool that will fundamentally change how software engineers work.

Using agent-first coding approach drastically reduces the time needed to get to 80% of the solution.

This means that the most boring and labourious part of setting up frameworks and writing boilerplate codes can mostly be automated.

But to get the remaining 20% of the solution, you will either require (1) many iterations with LLMs (that come with costs) or (2) take the solution to 100% yourself.

To be able to finish the last 20% of the solution yourself, you will still require a grounded understanding of the code, domain knowledge, and problem context.

Agent-first coding approach is like using autopilot in a car.

You can let autopilot works it magic, but you must still be capable of taking over and correcting course when things go wrong.
